Grove Park Inn

Another really cool part about my trip to Asheville was the hotel where I stayed. Such a diverse array of so many incredibly influential people, from presidents to professional golfers to famous authors, have stayed in the Grove Park Inn. One former resident that specifically intrigued me was F. Scott Fitzgerald. During the summers of 1935 and 1936, while Zelda was in treatment in Asheville, Scott stayed in the Inn to be near her. I wasn't able to enter the rooms, but apparently, they are furnished exactly as they were when he stayed there. Being the admirer of the Roaring Twenties that I am, I couldn't help but become overwhelmed with emotion being able to walk the same grounds as the very icon who lived and defined the Jazz Age. I'm not going to deny the fact that, at one point, I lost all track of time just sitting in the leather chairs outside of the two suites he occupied, and imagining his walking in and out of those very doors.

Lost in My Mind

(Jacket: CiChic, Dress: Urban Outfitters, Sandals: American Eagle, Socks: Forever 21)

Hi, everyone! I hope you all are having a great Friday. Above, I'm wearing my new jacket from CiChic. It's extremely lightweight, which makes it the perfect summer jacket. I love the dark wash of denim, but what immediately drew me to this jacket was the fit. It's structured completely differently than most denim jackets, and I feel that makes it a really interesting piece. Plus, the floral inner lining just makes it that much more special.

The Biltmore

(Jacket: Forever 21, Dress: Forever 21, Top Hat: Road Kill NOLA, Sandals: Steve Madden, Bag: Vintage Louis Vuitton)

I was recently in Asheville, North Carolina, and had the opportunity of seeing the Biltmore Estate. My mom and I, being the architectural and interior design lovers that we are, were on cloud 9 the entire day being able to soak in the beauty that fills the entire home. We toured the house twice, and most likely would have gone a third time had they not locked the doors. There's just so much to admire, that I don't think it's possible to ever truly see it all. Sadly, I was not allowed to take photos inside the house, but I promise you, each and every room is just as breathtaking as the exterior. The intricate craftsmanship that has been placed into every single detail, no matter how big or small, is absolutely incredible. I've always been told how beautiful the estate is, and I've even seen pictures, but the reality of how majestic the mansion actually is doesn't truly resonate until you're standing right in front of it, viewing it with your own two eyes. The Biltmore is, in every essence, a magical place. All I have to say is, Cornelia Vanderbilt was one lucky girl to have grown up in such a home.

19

(Shirt: J. Crew, Pants: J. Crew, Lace Shawl: Forever 21, Top Hat: Road Kill NOLA, Wedges: YSL)

Hurray, I'm now nineteen! This has been a really incredible birthday. I started the celebration off the right way this morning at Cracker Barrel with my friend, Anna, where we consumed shameful amounts of their gloriously delicious French toast. Then, tonight, I had a really lovely dinner with my family. It's days like today that I'm reminded how incredibly blessed I am to be able to celebrate and spend time with such wonderful people. I hope you all had an awesome day, as well.

Sunkissed

(Dress: Zara, Jacket: Aoyama Itchome, Shoes: Steve Madden, Bag: Mulberry)

Hi, everyone! I hope you are all having a wonderful summer so far. Though, I'm not the biggest advocate for the sweltering heat that will follow in the next few months, I'm definitely thankful to have a break from school. Summer has always been the most challenging season for me when it comes to deciding what to wear. I'm quite a fan of wearing multiple layers, as you may have noticed, however, Southern heat and humidity rarely cooperates. When the hot weather sets in, light and airy fabrics, like the lace of this dress, are my saving grace.

Red

(Dress: Sugarlips, Trench Coat: Nasty Gal, Button Up Shirt: American Apparel, Hat: Vintage, Sandals: Steve Madden)

Ok, ok, ok... I know, I've been away for a VERY long time. I've really hated not being able to post, but lately, it seems like my life has been completely consumed by college and finishing up the semester. So, anyway, my deepest apologies.

About the look... I'm wearing two new pieces that I'm absolutely crazy about. The first is this red dress from Sugarlips. I honestly love everything about this dress. With the bright color and the playful scalloped edges, it really is the perfect piece for spring and summer. The other new piece is this coat from Nasty Gal. Trench coats are so often seen that it's quite tricky to find one that really stands out. The faux leather sleeves on this one completely sold me. I really love these two pieces together. The subtle colors of the coat really allow the red of the dress to pop, and the leather sleeves of the trench give the dress some edge.
